What life is like 11 years, 10 months, and 14 days after losing my daughter.
Her name is Kelly. She was 25 years old. She died just 4 months after a diagnosis of melanoma (skin cancer).
I think about her everyday.

Skin Cancer & Melanoma Prevention - Shade Foundation's Award-Winning Self Exam Video
I'm a wife, mother and (gasp) grandmother. I have a strong interest in art and design. I spent some time in the 80's freelancing as a commerical artist, and a lot of time raising a family. Four kids, three girls, one boy. My oldest daughter died on August 31, 1997 of metastatic melanoma just 4 months after diagnosis, and 5 years after a mis-diagnosis by a dermatologist. The worst of times. Spent a few months in my pajamas. Finally began to get back to life after realizing in a profound way that my family NEEDED me. I've always felt that my loss was meaningless unless I could find a way for others to benefit from my experience. With a journal that anyone can use to write their loved one's story, I hope to allow a sense of Peace for anyone who has lost a loved one.
I hope to spread the word about the risk of sun exposure and tanning beds and the necessity of your participation in your health care...ALWAYS ask questions, it could save your life. http://www.squidoo.com/melanoma-information
All in all I believe life is good, you just have to figure out how to weather through the inevitable storms that come your way.
